CHEMICAL CAUTERY
Chemical cautery is a targeted medical intervention that utilizes caustic agents, such as silver nitrate, to achieve rapid hemostasis and tissue destruction through protein denaturation. The primary advantages of this technique include its ability to provide immediate, localized treatment for minor bleeding and the precise removal of hypergranulation tissue (proud flesh) in a minimally invasive, bedside setting without the need for anesthesia. This procedure is indicated for patients presenting with recurring epistaxis, small cutaneous lesions like warts, or chronic wounds where exuberant tissue growth must be managed to facilitate healthy epithelialization.
